ADVENTURES

Every day is an adventure, I endevour to learn something new each day. Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. ..... ~smile~

Packed off to a drab boarding school when I was seven, I realised that there was never going to be any backup in my life - If I wanted to move forward I was going to have to do it by myself. To that end, after leaving school I worked at a local factory to get enough money together to leave home as soon as possible. I realised that I needed experience so tried my hand at many forms of employment, gathering along the way many varied skills which have stood me in good stead to this day.

I arrived in London in the early '60s. (a truly amazing time). I had great ambitions and worked in Carnaby Street in the early days. Learned a lot and moved on to plugging records at the BBC. Met up with David Jones and his band 'The Lower Third'.
We got a £170 LCC Ambulance and had one suit between us. We would pick the band up, drive to Denmark Street, the band would have breakfast in the 'Giaconda', whilst I would put on the suit and toured the agents getting a gig for that night. David wore the suit onstage, Many fun adventures. He went on to become the always amazing, David Bowie.

In the late '60's I was having my hair cut at Sweeny's - Beauchamp Place SW1. Gary (the owner) asked me what I was doing and I replied, 'not a lot' - He said come here tomorrow morning - I'll teach you to cut hair. Working at Sweeny's opened my eyes to all kinds of possibilities and I never looked back. Found myself in Marbella, Spain in the early '70s and opened 'Gotama' Hair Salon, with Sara Skinner and Gavin Hodge. Then in 1973 'Gotama' in London's Kings Road, Chelsea.

Since then, over many years. I have travelled the world - experiencing different cultures and amongst other things taught myself how to cook - I just love cooking, creatively mixing different ethnic cuisines.
After a spell windsurfing in Thailand, I returned to the UK in 1991 hankering after a new direction in life. Emerging computer technology really excited me which eventually became Web Development, as I still do to this day. I am a happy man.

Upon my return to the UK. I formed my company, Smarter Systems, circa 1991, repairing computer systems for many varied clients. Inevitably my clients were asking me to design websites for their Business's or Service's.

I soon realised that having a well designed, user friendly website was just not enough, the website needed to be listed prominently in Search Engines for it to be found. Many website designers do not do this. With the emergence of Search Engines such as Google in September 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin,....... The game changed dramatically and still does on a daily basis.

A website has to be Optimised and Secure for Search Engines to take it seriously. At Smarter Websites UK we optimise each page of each website as it is created, therefore negating the need for external SEO agencies, after construction. All our Websites are Secure. The key here is to quickly give your target audience exactly what they are looking for in such a way that is engaging and easy to navigate.
